About Johns Creek, Ga
While Johns Creek, GA has seen settlement for hundreds of years – first the original Cherokee inhabitants of the land, later European colonists and Africans – the town didn’t emerge as a place unto itself until 1981. The area had a name, but very little settlement or economic activity until a group of Georgia Institute of Technology graduates sought to build an office park there. They spotted the name on an old map, named their office park for it, and Johns Creek, GA was officially born.
After two decades of population growth and development, Johns Creek, GA was incorporated in 2006. Today, the area is booming, with top employers including State Farm, Alcon, and Kroger. There is also plenty to do for fun. The town is home to the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta area’s only part-time, fully professional orchestra. Several festivals are held every year. Sports lovers should also check out the renowned Atlanta Athletic Club, which hosted the 2011 PGA Championship and the 2014 U.S. Amateur, not to mention the inaugural Atlanta Tennis Championships in 2010.
Overall, while Johns Creek may be relatively new, the area is growing and thriving. Scarcely more than a decade after its original incorporation, it’s a great place to live and work! Residents take pride in the beauty of their community.
